Grow Your Faith

#11/100
2005

Grow Your Faith gets its name from the green sashing that looks like grass. Like #9 and #10 of the series, it has faith fabric on the back. It is a rather large piece measuring 32 x 38 inches. Finished in June, 2005, Grow Your Faith was sold at the Underground Railroad Quilt Code Museum in Atlanta. It is #11/100 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series.

Forward By Faith Part 2

#10/100
2005

Forward By Faith Part 2 is #10/100 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series. It measures 19 x 31 inches so it has more of a vertical orientation than Forward By Faith, Part1. It was finished in June, 2005. Forward by Faith, Part 2 was sold at the Underground Railroad Quilt Code Museum in Atlanta.

Forward by Faith Part 1

#9/100
2005

#9 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ is called Forward By Faith Part 1 because it has fabric on the back that contains the word “faith.” Using the faith fabric gave me the idea to make the quilts in this series inspirational. In future quilts I begin appliquéing words of inspiration on the front of the quilts.

Forward by Faith, Part 1 measures 31 x 20 inches and was finished in June, 2005. It was sold at the Underground Railroad Quilt Code Museum in Atlanta.

Village Women, Part 2

#8/100
2005

Village Women Part 2 was sold on Ebay to a private collector in Virginia. This was the first quilt I ever sold on Ebay. It measures 32 x 36 inches. Like all of the quilts in the series, it is heavily embellished with beads, charms and other memorabilia. However, its red sashing and binding make it distinctive.

Village Women Part 2 is #8/100 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series.

Village Women, Part 1

#7/100
2005
The names for the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series are derived from the fabric on the back of the quilt. The fabric on the back of Village Women, Part 1 and Part 2 depicts African women going about their normal activities in the village. Some have baskets on their head.

Village Women Part 1 was donated to the Carrie Steele Pitts Orphanage for sale at a fund raising auction. I have no idea who bought it or for how much.

Village Women Part 1 measures 32 x36 inches. It has brown sashing and binding. It was finished in June, 2005 and became #7/100 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series.

Caribbean Branches, Part 3

6/100
2005

Caribbean Branches, Part 3 measures 34 x 36 inches. It also has fabric purchased in Belize during a Caribbean cruise on the back. It is larger than the other two Caribbean Branches quilts.
Caribbean Branches, Part 3 is #6/100 of the African Canvas Memory Quilt™ series. It was sold at the Underground Railroad Quilt Museum in Atlanta, Georgia.
